KATE NV

Electronic avant-pop with a Far East vibe from a young Moscovite
In her solo project "Kate NV", the singer of the boisterous Moscow-based rock band Gsh/Glintshake, Katya Shilonosova explores completely different musical territories. Her principle sources of inspiration are the exotic melodies and tender tones of the 80's Japanese synthpop, constructed by members of the Yellow Magic Orchestra, Haruomi Hosono, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the emotional investigations of the pop avant-garde artist Laurie Anderson. Having completed an internship at the Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo, Katya Shilonosova transformed her musical passions into inventive pop music that balances between complex and approachable. Her album "Binasu" (meaning "Venus" in Japanese) was released on the US record label Orange Milk, and garnered a lot of enthusiastic acclaim from the Russian and international music press.
